The Alpaca World of Peru

The alpaca was domesticated in Perú some six thousand years ago. From that time onwards, it has been inseparable from the traditions, culture and everyday life of the country, especially in the Southern Andean region. In that area, there are hundreds of thousands of families whose main or only livelihood depends on raising alpacas in conditions very similar to those which one might have found in the times of the Incas. Here too are to be found the most sophisticated industries which, having managed to conserve the country's extraordinary textile tradition, one of the oldest in the world, and employing state-of-the-art technology, have been able to manufacture the finest of products to be found on the world's most sophisticated markets.

The companies which make up the GRUPO INCA are leaders in this dynamic alpaca textile industry. We have achieved an unparalleled degree of vertical integration, which extends from the raising alpacas and genetic experimentation on selected animals, to the making up of complete collections of garments and accessories which we offer in our own chain of stores, Alpaca 111, whose name has become an internationally renowned brand.

The 'Inca Tour' of alpaca in Perú, a splendid opportunity to make an extraordinary journey in time, will lead you through the breathtaking Upper Andean landscapes where alpacas are raised, and give you the chance to meet the authentic descendants of the Incas with their ancient traditions in alpaca raising. It will also give you a complete view of the modern and complex textile processes used to transform this noble fiber into the wonderful garments demanded by the world's most exigent markets.

The GRUPO INCA, on the strength of fifty years' experience in alpaca processing, offers this fascinating tour to those who desire an intimate knowledge of the deepest roots and most ancient origins of this animal. We invite you to join us on this unforgettable adventure, accompanied by those who proudly lead and know the world of Peruvian Alpaca better than anybody.
